YANGON

Yangon formerly known as Rangoon, is the capital of the Yangon Region and the largest city of Myanmar (also known as Burma).

 

Yangon served as the capital of Myanmar until 2006, when the military government 

relocated the administrative functions to the purpose-built city of Naypyidaw in central Myanmar.

 

With over 7 million people, Yangon is Myanmar's most populous city and its most important commercial centre.

INLE LAKE

Inle Lake is a freshwater lake 

located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Taunggyi District 

of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma).

 

It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 44.9 square miles (116 km2), and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 feet (880 m). During the dry season, the average water depth is 7 feet (2.1 m), with the deepest point being 12 feet (3.7 m), but during the rainy season this can increase by 5 feet (1.5 m). [From Wikipedia]

MANDALAY

Mandalay is the second-largest city in Myanmar,after Yangon. 

 

Mandalay was founded in 1857 by King Mindon, replacing Amarapura as the new royal capital of the Konbaung dynasty.

 

It was Burma's final royal capital before the kingdom's annexation by the British Empire in 1885. Under British rule, Mandalay remained commercially and culturally important despite the rise of Yangon, the new capital of British Burma. The city suffered extensive destruction during the Japanese conquest of Burma in the Second World War. In 1948, Mandalay became part of the newly independent Union of Burma. [From Wikipedia]

BAGAN

Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar from the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar.

 

Now Bagan is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. The Bagan Archaeological Zone is a main attraction for the country's nascent tourism industry.It is the largest archaeological site in the world.
